Water Quality Guideline Development Evaluation, and Application

Development of Management Objectives for Water and Effluent Quality

AngloAmerican

In support of its Environmental Management Act permit, AngloAmerican’s Trend Mine in northeastern British Columbia required the development of site-specific water quality objectives and trigger values. Borealis was responsible for the derivation of water quality objectives and trigger values of six parameters, specifically: nitrite, ammonia, phosphorus, cadmium, biochemical oxygen demand, and dissolved oxygen. These trigger values were developed for approval by provincial regulators and for use by environmental monitoring staff at the mine.
